Color Code
This was a look featured on my store’s instagram (@nordwestchester), and put together by my Topshop visual merchandising team. They selected me to model the Color Code trend that was all about color this summer. Although I did not style this outfit, I was still involved with incorporating the accessories and styling of the shoot that completed the look. Wearing bright, bold colors has always brought me out of my comfort zone. Don’t get me wrong. I love color and I love statement looks, but it just never feels right on me. Color Code is not only about wearing vibrant colors, but mixing them together and still making it work.
The important piece to pulling off this trend is bringing balance to the colors; this is where neutrals like white come in. The green jacket with orange pants alone may seem odd at first, but mixing white throughout breaks up the color. It gives your eyes something else to focus on.
If you want to be subtle, you can introduce colors at a smaller scale. Focus on one color then add your second color as an accessory. For example, you could wear a pink blazer and pair it with some clean denim or pants. Then add your secondary color in your bag or maybe a statement necklace that way you are still showcasing the colors together. Wear a white t-shirt (graphic or plain) and some barely there shoes.
This trend is all about vibrancy and confidence. Yes, you look bright, but you’ll feel bright too. On a nice sunny day, wearing these bright colors almost help bring happiness out of you.
